Vision Statement

To provide the highest quality, leading edge swim programs which are safe, inclusive and where learning is fun.

We have a standardised stroke development process that all teachers understand and follow.  We are also acutely aware that a 'one-size-fits-all' approach will not always suit some individual students so we do modify these processes where appropriate to deliver value to such students.

We aim to deliver

A swim program that is both enjoyable for children as well as challenging them to succeed and achieve above and beyond their current levels of proficiency.

A strong focus on technique – we ensure that all children learn swimming techniques that will serve them well throughout their lives whether as competitive or purely recreational swimmers.

A professional and co-operative working relationship with all our customers.

Our team

Swimming with Excellence employs staff with industry knowledge, appropriate qualifications, swimming backgrounds and technical skills to deliver a top quality program.  Our staff members continually work towards engaging the children to ensure their swimming journey is enjoyable, educational, motivating, challenging and rewarding.

Mark Cooper

Program Manager

Susan has been working in the industry for 20 years as an Instructor, Coach, Co ordinator, Manager, Swim School Owner, Course Presenter and Industry Presenter at local, state, national and international conferences.

Susan grew up in Queensland where all her time was in a swimming pool either training, competing or playing.  When Susan finished her schooling, her career path was lead into the Advertising Industry starting in a Brisbane based agency learning all facets of the business and then moving to Sydney to pursue the Media pathway as Media Planner/Buyer at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising.

On a personal note, Susan’s other passion is travelling and she has travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, USA, Middle East, Mediterranean, as well as Australia.  Travelling adventures include throwing a tent, sleeping bag, pillow and camera in the back of the car and seeing where the road takes her.  When not working and travelling Susan enjoys time on the water paddling her river ski’s with friends (quite often with her friend and presenting partner, Olympian, Sue Harbottle).

Mark Cooper, or “Coop” as he is better known, has been around swimming all his life. With mum being a top New Zealand coach and educator, Coop was on the side of the pool from 2 weeks old and hasn’t looked back.

Coop spent his teenage years training and racing in NZ and Australia, taking National Age Gold in the 200m Backstroke over the better part of a decade. Moving to Melbourne in 2008, after just turning 21, Coop set up his new training regime under the guidance of Rohan Taylor, at what used to be called Carey Aquatic.

Following a successful transition to Melbourne, and falling in love with the city, Coop turned his attention towards teaching and coaching. While having some years of experience whilst in NZ, under the watchful eye of his experienced home coach, Coop set out to learn everything he could about being an effective swimming educator.

Spending 12 months strengthening and extending the existing junior framework at CA Tritons (formally Carey Aquatic) and the TAS LTS program was Coop’s first step, before looking to move into age group coaching. Coop found this with the Surrey Park Swim Club and was settled into a role focused on national age development and state swimmer transition. Wanting to apply what he had learnt, Coop took on the Head Coach role at St Catherine’s School. This saw the establishment of a competitive swimming club, and a program wide strategic development plan put into action. At the same time Coop moved into course presenting, spending the last 12 months as part of the Swimming Australia Teacher course presenters circuit.

Each step of the way there have been valuable learning opportunities presented. Coop looks to bring his experience, energy and passion to the Swimming with Excellence program and is excited to continue building the interest and fun surrounding a swimming club family.
