Metro East Junior Dolphin Selection Trials
Saturday 6 October 2018
SWE Stars Swimming Club Meet Report and Results
Our SWE Stars racing team had an electric day last Saturday, competing at the Metro East Junior Dolphins Selection Trials. Swimmers from clubs all throughout the Metro East zone raced for top 10 spots to qualify for the 2018 Victorian Metro Optus Junior Dolphins Meet, coming up on 11 November. This meet replaces the former 7-10’s Competition.
Sam Purvis and Susan Mothershaw oversaw the swimmer’s preparation on the day and created an amazing environment for our swimmers to feel confident and relaxed about their racing. The sun was shining and our SWE Stars shone even brighter.
With over a 95% PB rate for the day, including some first-time swims setting new PBs, the race team produced an outstanding day of racing. Enriched with learning opportunities, each swimmer benefited hugely from their experiences. All SWE Stars swimmers raced very well, impressing our coaching team to no end.
Our team were able to put on show all the areas they had improved throughout last term and were able to highlight small areas to continue focusing on in the training pool.
Chloe Johnstone, who had a broken arm for much of term 3 and had only been back in the pool a few weeks before competing. Chloe turned out some amazing swims with all things considered, dropping over 16 seconds from her 100m Fly PB, and dropping over 15 seconds from her 100m Breast PB.
Grace Cox, placing 1st in her 50m Free event, in a very sharp time, dropping well over 5 seconds from her previous PB.
Bradley Johnstone, who in term 3, stepped up into the Silver Squad. Bradley was one of a few who made the transition into a new squad and is flourishing. Bradley was joined in his move by a few of his friends and has showed what can be possible when swimmers align with the developmental structure within the Swimming with Excellence program. Bradley dropped over 15 seconds from his 50m Fly PB!
